I think the team lineup selection could use improvement. I'd like to be able to have my manager use the formations I want and automatically balance playing time between my players so that there are no fitness issues nor playing time complaints from my players. It is too tedious for me to use created lineups and switch the players out. Even more so if I owned three clubs.
I also think that scouting is a tedious and complex process that should be simplified. Basically, the game needs to be made more user friendly to retain more users.
As for an added feature that could be cool, maybe there could be scenarios that cause positive or negative impacts to your club. Some of these scenarios could require you to make a choice, such as "I want my manager to say ___ at the pre match press conference" OR "As the owner, I offer profit sharing to my players for the current season".

Would it be possible to include more detail around the stadium. As in you could increase corporate, increase the price and quality of commerce, improve the style of advertisement hoarding etc etc
Could also do the same for the training ground, break down into different areas that could be improved separately from each other.
yeah, certainly something to look at.

I'll think about the other question re increasing visibility

I have changed the starting capital to 20 million now and made player release free if you have bought the club in the last 6 months

anyway to make it so you see your youth team players potential more accurately the older they get? for example when they are 16 you see to within 250, when they are 17 to within 100 and when they are 18 to within 50.
also can the AI teams actually sign their best youth players instead of releasing them. edited by OwnGoal on 16/09/2023

The manager was part of kidderminster harriers 10 years earlier, but hadnt coached until MK position. since KH are now top of EPL, perhaps that has a role in his high wage

good points Longsands. I've noticed one of the main issues is inheriting a squad full of poor players who you can't get rid of. So maybe I could put something in to allow free contract terminations within 6 months of buying a low class club, as well as increasing the starting capital edited by admin on 15/09/2023

My guess is a lot of the new players who don't give it a proper chance probably stumble on it wanting something quick to play in their browser, they'll sign up and realise it's more of a long term game, and they'll have to read the guides etc, and that there's a limit to what they can do immediately, and then forget about it. Doubt there's much that can be done about that, just the nature of niche games.
Having said that I've been thinking the game could be more forgiving for new players - £10m starting funds felt like plenty when I started playing, but maybe that could to be adjusted slightly to help keep up with inflation* along with a little bonus payment for other bottom flight teams so that teams signing up tomorrow don't have an advantage over teams that signed up yesterday. Too many new players now are spending a dangerously high percentage of their starting capital on buying their first club without being able to realise the risks until it's too late - when that happens it's only the really keen new players who would stick around and try again. I think it'd be a good idea for them to be given a bit extra to start out with, but also have the game put a limit on what % of the starting capital a new account is able to spend on that first club purchase, effectively forcing them to keep a bit of money in the bank as safety net, so they can afford to leak money for at least a season or two while they figure out the game, wait to offload bad players on high wages etc.
*I bought Darlington for about 2.5m when they were in National League North - currently no team in that division has a club value under 10m
I think it's also quite common for new players to buy a club and not really be able to do a great deal for about least 6 months, and could still be leaking money in the process. I think new players wouldn't mind starting at the bottom challenging as long as they're able to be proactive when they first join. What I suggested above (a cap on what % of starting capital they're able to spend on their first club) could make sure they'll have a bit of money left over to be able to make some decisions with e.g. sack the manager, pay off some contracts if they're at the squad limit.
Just looking now at the Isthmian League, there are 8 human teams in it which is pretty healthy - I don't remember seeing that many in that division before. But nearly all seem to be struggling, which adds to my feeling that it's a lot tougher down there for newbies than it used to be. When there were just a few of us, we wanted the game to make the lowest divisions more difficult for us if anything, but now the learning curve combined with the low margin for error financially in the lower leagues, it's pretty punishing for newbies - maybe it could be good to make the bottom flight a little easier while they make sense of the game, and let the real difficulty level be set by the human players they're competing with.

definitely looks too high. i'll do a proper check on why this is happening at some point, but for now i have just knocked a 0 from his salary

I'll think you have to be patient. from 10 new users there is only one that stay for a longer time. But it will grow, I amsure of it! Perhaps making a facebook page and post there every they a message or the result or something. The users here can part that on there own page....

I'll check...I think I set minimum "cup class" to rule out things like the FA trophy/ shield.
But I'll amend it so it includes Scottish League cup.

Currently there are only 55 players who own clubs, and some of these are likely to have signed up started and then left again. The actual number of active players is probably closer to 30 to 40.
So, I need to look at ways at changing the game to attract and retain more players.
If anyone has any ideas, put them in this thread. Particularly interested to hear what difficulties brand new players face in getting to grips with the game and focussing on those areas.
