A bug fix has just gone in to correct match sim calcs based on the average age of the team. If you have a particularly young starting lineup - e.g. several players under the age of 21 - then you might notice a drop in performance from fixtures after 20th September 2023. Ideally you will want to field a team with an average age of at least 24 to ensure you aren't impacted by this (even if your eleven 20 year olds have managed to reach high experience). EDIT: as players have already built squads without knowing about this, I'll delay the fix by a season. You can bear in mind though for future transfers edited by admin on 11/10/2022 edited by admin on 01/11/2022

What if my young player reaching 1000 exp? Are they still underperforming compared to older and much weaker players?

is it possible to add the influence of the age and the experience into the overall rating?

The players individual performance is unaffected. It's just a modifier which goes against the team in general when checking things like winning possession and basically how well the players gel together. So having one 20 Yr old with 1000 exp won't have a negative impact on the team unless a lot of the other players are also that young. Because of this I wouldn't apply it to the players overall rating. But its something to be aware of when putting your team together.

Sorry, I dont get this change, if a player has 1000 or 800 exp, why should the team be affected negatively, just because he is only 20.

If avg. age is now that important, can we have it calculated, on the lineup page? And showing, when we change a lineup? That would than help.

It's to reflect the overall maturity of the team. As I said, one 20 yr old player won't impact it. You will only notice a difference if you have seven or eight players all 16 to 21 years old. However, I can add average age to the lineups page

I guess i will now have to wait 7 or more seasons to be competetive with my teams. Would be nice, If there was a note about that in the game guide. The building of my teams went into the the wrong direction.. 😑

it won't have that much impact. its a small modifier to give more balanced teams an edge. my own team has just had a match with an average age of 20 and beaten a team with an average age of 26. https://www.footballclubowner.com/FixtureLineUps.aspx?idFixtureList=93972 edit: but if you are concerned, you can easily pick up a few 35+ old free transfers and putting a couple of them in your lineup will increase the average significantly edited by admin on 11/10/2022

Average age is now shown in the fixturelineup page for games which have already happened, and in the select lineup part in both this page and the squad page

i've now added a section at the end of the "Match Lineup & Tactics" guide to cover Age, Experience and Chemistry. This covers a few other existing calcs which I realised were not documented anywhere

In fairness, I was feeling the same as Kamelkaze, but I realized how often do you see a professional team start a full squad of 18/19 year olds? It's a little frustrating because I did go balls to the wall signing good young players (as I'm sure most people did), but it also makes sense that a very young squad would be at a slight disadvantage to an older squad

Thats my reasoning as well. However, as I've said in the OP, I'll delay the fix by another season to give you a chance to adjust your squads (plus all your players will be a year older!)

I started in the bottom league, so i wont rebuild the squads, They will be strong in future. Probably sell one club and switch to another team.

FWIW I like this change - I have signed a number of teens from my academy, playing several of them in my first team or rotating them through as subs, but there is an intangible advantage to the experience that comes from years, in particular with getting along with other people - ie. in this instance helping a team to gel. Makes sense that a team with an older average age, with other factors being equal, would have an edge in some areas. Tough stuff for a sim to capture, but glad that some work has gone in in this area. Even if my keeper and striker at Buxton have a combined age of 34!

The questions is: A 24 year old 700 vs a 36 year old 500 player. Which one is better?

Well they did say 24 years old is fine, and one or two young players is not a problem. If you have 9, 10, or even 11 players that are 18 or 19 starting then there will be a slight penalty to the team, not that you'll lose every match.

My managers used 470-490 35 year old players over 24y 550-600 players. So If they used the best available players( in the game Guide its says the Manager using the best available players), They are better no matter of the penalty. Some of my 16-17y old players gain 600-700 experiance within a season. This seems unbalanced to me.

Lol that isn't the point of the rule, we're talking about team cohesion, and the average example given was not 36. Or was that a serious question? I'd go with the 700 24 year old!

Quite. I have half a dozen teens on my books, start two or three of them, but the rest of the side are 24 to over 30. This is a sim, and not many IRL teams fielding mostly teens would hold up at the top level. Strength etc all come in more as you get older. Only ones who don't realise that are still teens.
